Why Use an Organic Baby Sling?

“Going Green” has never been easier. As more and more consumers and manufacturers start seeing the advantages of environmentally friendly products, not only have these products begun to be easier to find in markets throughout the country, but the choices being offered of earth friendly products is exploding, especially in the baby sling market.

Organic Baby Slings are twice blessed, first, the growing process of the fibers used to make the sling are much friendlier to the environment that those fibers are being grown. A typical growing process uses fungicides, insecticides and possibly GMO’s during their seed preparation. Synthetic fertilizers lead to gradual soil loss, and aerial spraying of insecticides and pesticides frequently consist of known cancer-causing agents. If that wasn’t enough, during harvest, additional toxic chemicals are used during the defoliation. All of this is just what takes place before the material even arrives at a factory, where additional chemicals and possibly pigments consisting of heavy metal content are applied to the fibers.

The material used to make organic slings by contrast, are free from harmful chemicals added during seed and soil preparation. Furthermore, only low-impact fiber relative dyes with low metal and sulfer content are used during the dying process.

The second blessing of organic slings is the chemical free nature of the sling itself! Organic slings are free of chlorine, sodium hydroxide and formaldehyde. All of these can be present in conventional cotton fabrics. If either you or your little one is chemically sensitive, then the presence of any of these can cause serious discomfort, not to mention the peace of mind that comes from using a sling made in an environmentally sustainable manner.
